Sunny is approximately 3 years old and weighs about 70#. He is housebroken, crate trained, and does pretty well on a leash. Sunny has been attending classes with a local trainer and has done very well. He isn't destructive in the house and we frequently give him free run while we are gone for a few hours or at night. Sunny is great with cats and ours walk right up to him and rub around his legs while he wags his tail and sometimes offers them a play bow. He is generally good with other dogs, but can be selective of his friends. A meet and greet would be suggested for any current dogs in his new home; a female of similar size and energy would be ideal. Sunny enjoys his toys, especially playing fetch. He will sometimes "throw" a tennis ball for himself. Sunny has no sense of personal space; he thinks he is a lap dog and loves to cuddle. We thought Sunny had found the perfect family, but after a couple of months in their home, he became protective of them. This behavior can be managed with training, patience, and time. For that reason though, Sunny might do best in a relatively quiet home or in a family with plenty of dog experience. Sunny is a smart boy who catches on quickly and wants to please, so we really believe this behavior could be corrected. He has not shown it in his foster home and we would keep him in a heartbeat, if we weren't so well blessed with dogs already. Sunny knows "sit," "down," he offers his paw, and will sit up to beg. He enjoys clicker training and has the potential to learn much more. Sunny will jump on you when he's excited, so he would be best with older children.
